Update 3D in ArtiosCAD sometimes gives an unexpected result, depending on how much the 2D design was changed.
Symptoms
To update a 3D design, you can edit the 2D design and use Convert to 3D > Update 3D.
If the 3D has more than one design in it, it picks which design to update automatically by comparing the panel sizes and geometry.
If the 2D design is changed by a small amount so that most of the panels are the same size, there is no problem finding the matching 3D design to update and Update 3D should work as expected.
But if the 2D design is changed so much that most of its panels have a different size from the 3D design, ArtiosCAD may:
Not find a match in the 3D design, so Update 3D is disabled.
Find a match with a similar but different 3D design and update the wrong design.
As an extreme case, if you change cuts to creases, what might appear to be a small change in 2D is actually a big change in 3D because it changes the number of parts.
For example:
2D design, all cuts
Convert to 3D makes 5 separate rectangles
Change cuts to creases
Update 3D changes one of the 5 rectangles, leaves the others the same
Solution
To avoid this problem you can:
Make incremental changes to the 2D and update the 3D each time.
