This article describes the recommended way of setting up Pack Proof or FlexProof/e to make a color accurate proof on an Epson P70x0 or P90x0.


Proof Server Setup

  1. Download the Esko EPL "v14 Epson SureColor Px0x0CT_720x720_V.epl" from this page:
  2. Copy the EPL to the Esko Profiles folder (default location: x:\ProgramData\Esko\Esko Profiles\My Profiles, in case of custom location set during the installation, the path can be found using the Proof Client. Select an existing output device and under Media/Catalog... the information window will display the file path).
  3. Create a new output device in the Proof Client.
  4. Select the desired driver (EPSON SC-P70x0 CT or EPSON SC-P90x0 CT).
  5. Enter the IP address.
  6. Select the Esko EPL
    1. Media > Ink Type > EPSON UltraChrome HDX (Violet)
    2. Media > Media name > v14 Epson SureColor Px0x0CT_720x720_V.epl 
    3. Media > Calibration set > v14 Epson SureColor Px0x0CT_720x720_V.epl 
  7. Define the correct media settings: Media > Media Setting.
  8. Create a new "Esko Proofing workflow".
  9. Set the RIP resolution (Workflow > Speed) to High quality.

Proofer Profile Creation

  1. Start the Color Engine Pilot.
  2. Create a new proofer profile.
  3. Select the Hi-Res (non_uniform, 3 inks +K) overprint chart in the Overprints tab.
  4. Proof and measure the charts.
  5. Create a Proofing device link
    1. Select the press profile you want to use as reference (e.g. ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc).
    2. Select the new custom created Epson SureColor P70x0 / P90x0 proofer profile.
    3. Select Absolute Colorimetric as Rendering Intent.
    4. Select Closest Color (Classic) as Gamut Mapping.
    5. Select Minimal Black as Black Generation.
  6. Save the device link.
  7. Create a new Proofing Color Strategy and make sure the previously created device link is selected.
