KB179230698: ArtPro - When using the Place... option available in Picture menu, the placed image completely changes appearance from what it should be

Summary

When using Picture menu > Place... in ArtPro, to place a DeviceN picture (an image containing at least 1 spot color and at least a second color), the image completely changes in appearance.

Symptoms

After placing the image, it changes completely in appearance. It becomes, for e.g., almost completely black. When you open the same image in other applications, the image looks OK.

Solution

1. Open the image in a bitmap editor, for e.g.: Adobe^® Photoshop^®.
2. Check if the image is a 16-bit image. ArtPro does not support placing 16-bit images.
3. Change the image to 8-bit. In Adobe^® Photoshop^®, you can do this by opening the Image menu > Modes > Convert to 8-bit image.
4. Save the file in Adobe^® Photoshop^® and then place the 8-bit image in ArtPro.
