KB180985549: WebCenter - Search Results take a long time to load and sometimes do not update

Summary

Search Results do not update after changing one of the criteria. The loading indicator spins for 30 seconds and then it just disappears and nothing happens.

This issue may be resolved by de-fragmenting the database.

Symptoms

• You change some items in the top parameter panel and click Search. The loading icon appears and after 30 seconds the loading icons disappears again and nothing happens. The Search Results do not update and still show the old search criteria.
• For WebCenter 16.0 and newer, Search Results show the following error after 30 seconds, after changing the criteria:
  “Loading failed: Ajax call timed out after 30000miliseconds”
• Search Results take a very long time to update when searching for certain values for Attributes.

Solution

In all cases where we have seen this error, there was one simple database query which was taking a very long time while it should execute instantly.

De-fragmenting the database should fix the issue. To do so, follow the steps in this KB article:
