Answer

Since WebCenter 16.1, a new licensing model, Named User licenses has been introduced. You can choose either:

• the existing Concurrent model. Read in Concurrent License Model.

• or the new Named User licenses. Read in Named User License Model.

  In rare occasion if both types are detected on the system, the Named User licenses take priority (licenses will not be added up). For more info about licensing, also see: Licensing and Users.

How does the Named licenses work?

In the Named User license model, you purchase licenses for all the Users in the system, whether they are logged in or not. Customers can purchase three types of User licenses: Admin/Project Managers, Regular Users and Integration licenses (a base pack includes all three types). Integration licenses allow multiple guaranteed sessions to be assigned to Users used for integration purposes such as SDK calls or Automation Engine. They are also used for Workflow Tunnels. 

Which model is used?

To see which model is used, check the Admin > Users page. In the overview top right, either the number of concurrent licenses or named User type (Admin/PM, regular User) licenses are mentioned. The Troubleshooting Tool also provides more detailed info on licensing since WebCenter 16.1. Choose Admin > Configuration > Troubleshooting Tool from the main menu and click Show Details under the section License Check.

Overview of licenses in the Network License Manager

Since WebCenter 16.1, following licenses are or can be listed in the Network License Manager:

Depending on the size of the installation, there will be either a Standard or Advanced WebCenter license. In case of concurrent licensing, this license includes five concurrent Users. Since 14.x, Reporting is part of the WebCenter Advanced license.
WebCenter Standard 16.1 - 5 Users			Optional	This license provides access to five additional Users at the same time (concurrent access).
WebCenter Advanced 16.1 - 5 Users			Optional	This license provides access to five additional Users at the same time (concurrent access) and enables some advanced features such as SSO advanced connection and WF project creation.
WebCenter 16.1 CAD Engine			Required	The CAD Engine license covers the CAD functionality that you need in WebCenter. This is not a full ArtiosCAD license.
WebCenter 16.1 Editor Access			Optional	The Editor Access license is used to grant guaranteed access to ArtiosCAD Enterprise Users. You can have any number of Editor Access licenses.
WebCenter 16.1 Regular User limit			Required for Named User License	This license allows you to create regular Users. The number of regular Users in the system is limited to the number of licenses.
WebCenter 16.1 Admin/PM User limit			Required for Named User License	This license allows you to create Administrator/Project Manager Users. The number of Administrator/Project Manager Users in the system is limited to the number of licenses.
WebCenter 16.1 SDK session limit			Required for Named User License	This license allows you to grant guaranteed sessions to Users. The number of guaranteed sessions of all Users is limited to the number of licenses.
WebCenter 16.1 OBGE			Required (OBGE)	This OBGE Engine license is part of the Automation Engine package. The OBGE license is not a full Automation Engine license, but ensures view files for graphics can be prepared for WebCenter. As the OBGE does not necessarily run on the WebCenter Application Server, this license may be on a different server. The WebCenter Native PDF licenses may be included with the OBGE license.
Migrate to WebCenter Advanced OBGE Engine			Optional (OBGE)	Unlocks four processing channels on your Automation Engine OBGE.
WebCenter Advanced Approval			Optional	The Advanced Approval license is an optional license that unlocks different functionality, such as Staged Approval and 3D Visualization. Also see: Page: KB82221376: WebCenter - Which module license unlocks which part of WebCenter's functionality
WebCenter Advanced Connect			Optional	When this license is available, you can create projects on a different WebCenter server and you can use the DAM connection functionality.
WebCenter Advanced SSO			Optional	Part of the Integration Pack. If available, more than one Basic password and one LDAP are allowed. This feature is enabled in the Concurrent license when the “WebCenter Advanced 16.1 - 5 Users” license is available.
WebCenter Lifecycle Management			Optional	The Life Cycle Management license is an optional license that unlocks WebCenter functionality related to Tasks. Also see: Page: KB82221376: WebCenter - Which module license unlocks which part of WebCenter's functionality
WebCenter Packaging Content Management			Optional	This license covers all options available in WebCenter with regard to managing Packaging Content Management. In the Named User license model, it is required that the number of licenses equals the number of Regular and Administrator/PM User Licenses.
WebCenter Reporting Toolkit			Optional	This license enables the Jasper Reporting. Available as part of the Integration Pack in the Named Licensing Model.
WebCenter Support for Additional or Custom Filetypes			Optional	This license enables support for MS Office Documents (viewing documents).
CHILI Integration Module			Optional	The CHILI Integration Module is an optional license required for CHILI integration.
WebCenter Task Management Basics			Optional	This license enables support for the basic task management, meaning manual Tasks (NOT Workflow Tasks).
WebCenter Task Management Advanced			Optional	This license enables support for Workflow tasks and Rule Engine functionality.
