KB185599880: ArtiosCAD - Import PDF file as graphic is blank

Summary

To place the graphics from a PDF file:

Go to File > Import File with import mode As graphics.

Some files import as a blank object, without error or warning.

Symptoms

The issue occurs in PDF files with transparency. It happens only on physical machines, not on virtualized machines. When you select the PDF file (by navigating to File > Open or File > Import File) the ArtiosCAD Preview window remains blank.

Solution

Avoid transparency. To do this you can:

Flatten the PDF using Enfocus PitStop.
Export/convert to PDF version 1.3.

You can check the PDF version in Adobe^® Acrobat^® menu File > Properties > Description tab.
