In FlexRip you had the possibility to use one, two or three curves in the FlexRip ticket (Plate Curve, Press Curve and a 3rd Correction Curve). In the FlexRip ticket, you had 'Single Curve', 'Automatic Curve' and 'Platemaking DGC'. If you want to know in which order these curves are applied, you can use the tool Preview Combined Curves in the Curve Pilot. You can see in the below screenshot that the 'Automatic' curve is applied first, followed by the 'Single' curve and the 'Platemaking' curve.
You can use the same curves (dgc, icpro, prsync, etc.) in the Imaging Engine tickets, but where do you want to add these curves in the ticket depends on the usage. In this article we have described more difficult use cases and how to convert this to the Imaging Engine ticket.
Procedure
When using two curves in the FlexRip ticket
Platemaking DGC = Plate curve
Automatic curve = none
Single curve (used for dotgain compensation) = Press curve
-> in the Imaging Engine ticket:
When these two curves are used in the FlexRip ticket
Platemaking DGC = none
Automatic curve (used for dotgain compensation) = Press curve
Single curve = Plate curve
-> in the Imaging Engine ticket:
When three curves are used in the FlexRip ticket
Platemaking DGC = Plate curve
Automatic curve (used for dotgain compensation) = Press curve
Single curve used for small corrections (e.g. Small fluctuations on the press)
-> in the Imaging Engine ticket:
In the Correction tab, add the Correction curve - applied 'Between Press & Plate Curve':
Order of curves applied in Imaging Engine
In the Imaging Engine ticket, the same order is applied for Press and Plate curve. First the Press Curve is applied followed by the Plate Curve. If a 3rd Correction curve is used, by default it is applied between Press and Plate curve (just like in FlexRip), but you also have the choice to apply it before the Press Curve or after the Plate Curve.
