How to configure Automation Engine in such a way that it opens a file in the desired application when it is double clicked in the Automation Engine Pilot?
By default, Automation Engine opens a file in the application defined by the operating system.
For instance, If you have Adobe® Reader® installed and in the operating system you have set it as the default application to open PDF files, then Automation Engine follows this setting. Therefore, when a PDF file is double clicked in the Automation Engine Pilot, it will be opened in Adobe® Reader®.
However, if you have another application installed to view PDF files and wish to open the file there occasionally, then you will have to register that application so that you can choose it from a list in the contextual menu.
Procedure
Follow the steps given below to override the default setting:
Register the application in Automation Engine Pilot:
Right-click the file > click Open With > Other….
Click the + button in the Select Application dialog to open the Register dialogue.
Click the Browse button and select the desired application. Mention a name for this application in the Name field.
Click OK.
Click Open in the Select Application window.
Open the file with the registered application in Automation Engine Pilot:
Right-click the file > click Open With.
You will find the list of all the registered applications displayed with the names provided by you while registering them. Choose the application to open the file.
