  • KB73059641: WebCenter - Unable to get a real design type when uploading ARD (CAD) files
Skip to end of metadata
Go to start of metadata

Summary

Uploading a CAD file in WebCenter fails.

Symptoms

The upload fails and you get an error message: "Unable to get a real design type for x.ARD".

This is the case for almost all types of CAD files:

  • ARD
  • MFG
  • A3D
  • DXF
  • ...

Solution

Solution 1: Load Boards and Defaults for WebCenter

Mostly, a CAD file upload fails because the Boards and Defaults for WebCenter are not loaded.

You must load Boards and Defaults, even if you don't use this WebCenter as an ArtiosCAD Enterprise server.
If they are not loaded, it causes problems when using all types of CAD files.

Refer to the installation guide to see how you can load the Boards and Defaults for WebCenter.

  • To load Boards: Configuring WebCenter > Configure WebCenter for Use with ArtiosCAD Enterprise > Step 2 - Running the Board Importer Batch File.
  • To load Defaults: Configuring WebCenter > Configure WebCenter for Use with ArtiosCAD Enterprise > Step 3 - Loading the Esko ArtiosCAD Defaults.
Solution 2: Run CAD-X

If solution 1 doesn't solve the issue, make sure that CAD-X is running:

  1. Start CAD-X.
  2. Try to upload the CAD file again.

  1. There is solution 3: rebuild CAD-X local db cache.

to do so, go to app server, stop cadx and delete the cache located in the folder of user of cadx service runner, (BGSYSTEM in most of cases).
