Question

How to make a smart text mark in ReportMaker, which shows the separation names from the file, in a fixed (other) separation? So, for e.g., if there is a Cyan ink in the file, display the text Cyan but write the text in Black.

Answer

  1. Edit your ReportMaker template in PackEdge.
  2. Make a Text Mark and edit its Properties.
  3. In the Text tab of the mark definition, click Smart Text....
  4. In the left column of the Smart Text dialog, click Ink/Color. In the right-hand column at the top use Ink attribute and not Ink Name. At the bottom, select the desired Ink number and in the Attribute drop list, select Name. Then, click the Insert button.

  5. In the Inks tab, configure the following settings:
  6. Select Custom Inks in the Ink drop-down menu.
  7. Click Select Inks and select Name in the Select Inks by menu and click Black. Also, check the Create if not present checkbox.
  8. Don't forget to click Apply.
  9. Repeat this for all the text marks in your ReportMaker template, where you want this behavior.
  10. The result for the text mark "separation name 1" will look as in the below screenshot. The name of the first separation of the file, in this case "Cyan", is displayed in Black.
