Summary

When trying to create a Job folder in Pilot, the following error message pops up: "Cannot insert duplicate key row in object "dbo.jobs" with unique index "jobs_i1"".

Symptoms

User is trying to create a new Job folder in Pilot. But due to problems, the user has tried to create this Job folders several times. While troubleshooting, the yellow Windows folder is deleted before removing the Job.

Solution

The error is simply stating that the Job name already exist in the BSJobs database and cannot be added a second time. To fix the issue,

  1. Go to the Job Overview in Pilot and search for this Job name.
  2. Once this Job folder is found, select Remove Job from the pull-down menu.
  3. Try to make the Yellow folder into a Job folder again. This time it should be successful.

Another option is to remove dangling Jobs from the Server Admin Utility. But this will remove all Job folder entries where the yellow folder no longer exists. This may or may not be the correct course of action depending on the customer.
