Description

From WebCenter 14 onwards, Database Lists can be used for Cascading Attributes and Asset Browsers. During the setup of such a List, you will typically create a new database table for storing the data. You can either enter a Database user (such as sa) and Password to configure this or you can choose to use the built-in webcenter database user account.

The advantage of using the webcenter database user account is that other Admin users can configure Lists without needing to know the Database user password. However, on a SQL database, the webcenter database user does need some additional permissions for this feature to function properly.

For more information on how to set up Lists, see:

Procedure

If you are using a SQL Database, follow these steps to enable the use of the built-in webcenter database user. For Oracle, you only need to perform step 7 and 8.

  1. Connect to your WebCenter Database using Microsoft SQL Server Studio.
  2. In the Object Explorer, navigate to: WebCenter4_0 > Security > Users > webcenter.
  3. Double-click the webcenter user or click Properties... in the contextual menu.
  4. Click Membership.
  5. Modify the Database role membership for the webcenter database user. You will need to enable db_ddladmin and/ or db_owner permissions.

  6. Click OK to save your changes.
  7. Login to WebCenter and create a new List or modify and existing one.
  8. Go to the Database Info section and enable Use the built-in 'webcenter' database user account to create the database table. Save your changes.
