While installing Studio plugins on Windows 7, the error "This software is not supported on this Windows operating system. The installation will be aborted" appears.
Symptoms
When you run the Setup.exe on a Windows 7 system, you may get the following error messages:
Solution
The executable may be running in the Windows XP compatibility mode.
To solve this:
Right click on the Setup.exe, to access the contextual menu, and then click Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for: checkbox.
Choose the version of OS that is running on the workstation in the drop-down menu.
In the Privilege Level section, check the Run this program as an administrator checkbox.
Click OK to close the window.
Double click the Setup.exe to install the software.
Solution 2
It may also be the case that your exe is on a list which Windows automatically treats as being set to a particular compatibility mode. In this case, the Properties menu is locked out and you're unable to change the compatibility via the above method.
