Summary

When trying to import a 3D file (for e.g.: .igs) into ArtiosCAD, you get an error like the one below even though you have a valid 3D Data Exchange license.

Symptoms

The user is unable to import or export any 3D files, the following error appears:

"Unable to initialize license check.".

All other ArtiosCAD functions work as they should. This message appears even if the user has a valid 3D data exchange license.

Solution

This error appears because the Flexnet 64 bit licensing service did not get updated properly. To fix this problem:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. If in Category View, select Programs and then Programs and Features. If in Icon View, select Programs and Features.
  3. Select Esko Local License Manager and then select Uninstall/Change.
  4. Remove the Esko Local License Manager software.
  5. On your ArtiosCAD DVD, navigate to the folder ArtiosCAD\locallicman_v010.
Or download the latest Local License Manager via: https://mysoftware.esko.com/
  6. Run the setup.exe program that you find in that folder. Accept all the default answers to the questions.

The library should now be updated and importing of 3D files should work.
