Question

When you import a .DAE file into the Store Visualizer that was created by the Revolve and Rotate function in the Studio Toolkit of Labels in Adobe^® Illustrator^®, it is imported into Store Visualizer looking like glass.

When you add a shrink sleeve to it in Studio Toolkit, it keeps the transparency when you import it in to the Store Visualizer. But as soon as you (re-)export the file using the Studio Designer (which is ignoring transparencies), i.e.,

1. 1. When you first add a label on the shape in the Revolve and Add Labels dialog in the Adobe^® Illustrator^®.
   2. Place it in Adobe^® Illustrator^® to add artwork to it.
   3. Next, export it via Studio Designer to a Collada file including the graphics.
   4. Then import it into Store Visualizer resulting in the glass no longer being transparent.

In fact, any file exported from Studio Designer to Collada (.ZAE) will no longer contain transparent materials.

Next Export to Collada from the Studio Designer will result in the transparency being ignored as the Studio Designer is currently not able to display this. Therefore, it will also not export it as transparent.

Answer

Three ways to achieve the transparent result in Store Visualizer are:

1. Open the file in Visualizer and export to a Collada for Viewing to keep the transparency. In case you've already exported to Collada from Studio Designer, just open the Collada in Visualizer and go to Model > Materials to set the material to transparent again.
2. When importing the model into the Store Visualizer, make sure to enable Modifiable Materials in the Import Settings dialog together with Two sided geometry set to Always for Opaque objects (otherwise you only get a single sided material). This will allow you to tweak/ modify the material of your file inside the Store Visualizer, using the Material Editor in the Scene tab.
   
   Now open the Material Editor in the Scene tab, select the imported bottle in the Library on the Tools tab and tweak the material's opacity.
   

   

3. Manually edit the XML content of a Collada file (in this case a .ZAE):

• Rename the .ZAE to .ZIP.
• Extract the .ZIP archive.
• Open the resulting .DAE in a text editor.
• Search for transparency in the file.
• Set the Transparency tag to 0 instead of 1.
• Save the .DAE file again.
• Select the content of the extracted folder again to create a new .ZIP archive (make sure to NOT zip the folder itself, only its content!).
• Rename the .ZIP to .ZAE and import it into the Store Visualizer.
