Summary

After installing Automation Engine on a new server for the first time, post installation, the following error appears: "Login failed for user 'sa'".

Symptoms

Post installation, the following error appears: "Login failed for user 'sa'".

When you try to login in to the Pilot the following error appears: "An Exception occured while trying to save the view "admin":BG_EEXception .server.elm.ELM_ENotServicingException:ElemServer not servicing.".

Solution

Reason for this error is that there are no databases created post installation because the sa password is not the default sa password, the databases are created in the folder: drive\Esko\bg_data_fastserver_dbase.

There are two solutions:

  1. Modify the sa password temporarily to the default sa password.
    1. Open Microsoft SQL Management Studio Express Edition.
    2. Login to the database Engine with user sa and the password. In the example given below, we are connecting to the unnamed instance.

    3. Go to Security > Logins and double click sa
    4. Type in the new password in the Password and the Confirm password textboxes and click OK.
    5. Open Server Admin > Status overview and do an Activate Server, databases should now be created.

      Note

If the sa password is not known, you can create another user with administrative privileges, see

  2. Create the databases in the Server Admin:
    1. Open Server Admin.
    2. Login in to Server Admin with User name admin and default password admin.
    3. Select Databases
    4. Click the lock icon to login to the SQL server instance with user sa and corresponding password or an user with administrative privileges on the SQL Server.
    5. Create the databases by clicking the + sign.
    6. Enter BSjobs for the Database name.
    7. In the Use data drop down menu, choose No (empty database).
    8. Click on browse to the folder where the Master database file must be stored, default drive\Esko\bg_data_fastserver_dbase, and click ok OK.
    9. Click Browse and go to the folder where the Transactionlog file must be stored, default is drive\Esko\bg_data_fastserver_dbase and click OK.
    10. Click OK, database will be created.
    11. Repeat the steps for the FastLane_TM and FastLane databases.
Note

In Suite 12.2 there will be the possibility to specify another sa password.
