Why did I see the "Specific service does not exist..." error message when backing up the ArtiosCAD database with DataCenter Admin?

Answer

When running Datacenter Admin and using the backup feature to backup the ArtiosCAD database, a user may see this error:

This message appears when the database is neither SQL server 2005 nor MSDE. Those are the only two databases that can be backed up with this function.

The current ArtiosCAD-supplied database is SQL Server 2012 which started shipping with ArtiosCAD 12. The DataCenter Admin backup function will not work with this database. Use the SQL Server Management Studio application to backup the database.
