Description

How to uninstall DeskPack on Mac OS X and on Windows?

Procedure

To clean up any plugin installation on Mac:

  1. Delete the two Esko folders (and/or EskoArtwork folders) from the Adobe® Illustrator® application and plugin folders.
  2. Check the HD/Library/Receipts folder for older Esko plugin related .pkg files (i.e., Channel Mapping.pkg) and delete them.
  3. Delete the HD/Library/Application Support/Esko-Graphics/DeskPack Plug-In Repository/ folder completely.
  4. Delete all Esko plugin related .plist and .bom files in /private/var/db/receipts. You will need an Administrator account to delete these files.

You can easily sort on Name to see all "com.Esko.xxxx" or "com.esko-graphics.xxxx" listed together.

To clean up any plugin installation on Windows:

On PC, an uninstall function is available to uninstall the DeskPack/ Studio/ Dynamic Content plugins individually.

  1. Go to Start > Programs > Esko > DeskPack Plugins > <PLUGIN NAME> > remove PLUGIN NAME.

In case you have an Interactive Applications DVD, you can also use our Uninstall All function to uninstall all plugins in a sequence.

  1. Insert the Interactive Applications DVD and browse to Extra > IAP Uninstall > egsetup_uninstall_suite12_iap_applic.exe.

DeskPack/ Studio/ Dynamic Content 14.0 or newer:

Some new information on the latest Suite 14 installers for Mac:

  1. Since Suite 14, Esko is an ‘identified’ developer company for Mac OS X. This implies that you do not have to set the Security level in the Security & Privacy preferences to allow installers from ‘anywhere’. The default option (Mac App Store and identified developers) will work fine.
  2. The disk images and DVD no longer contain .mpkg installers linking to the actual .pkg files in the hidden .MacPackages folder. Instead, the .mpkg files became .pkg files in which every sub package is embedded, so, you could safely copy them anywhere! To know what’s inside a package like this, you could use the Terminal with the following expand command:
    pkgutil --expand /Volumes/Studio/Applications.pkg /Users/<current user>/Desktop/Expand
But make sure the Expand folder does not exist yet as it will be auto-created by the script. In doing this, you will know what packages were included.
  3. Also, there is no Install (default install) anymore as the installer will now always open in the Custom install mode (so possibility to immediately deselect plugins to prevent them from being installed).
  4. Most DeskPack plugins are now being sold via the new Subscription service. We will therefore write a SubscriptionService.app and registration.xml files in the Library/Application Support/Esko/SubscriptionService folder. You should never delete these files or folder!
  5. We will no longer write .pkg files in the library/receipts folder, but will from now on write .bundle files in the /Library/Application Support/Esko-Graphics/DeskPack Plug-In Repository folder.
  6. The installers will from now on check the .plist and .bom files related to Esko plugins from the /private/var/db/receipts/ folder. So, in case you need to perform a clean installation, delete all Esko related .plist and .bom files from that hidden system folder. An administrator account is required.

DeskPack/ Studio/ Dynamic Content 12.1.2 and 12.1.3 only:

On Mac, there is no option to uninstall DeskPack. Therefore, you need to manually delete folders and files.

  1. In case you want to reinstall DeskPack on Mac, there's no need to uninstall anything as the installer will overwrite the existing plugins.
However, if you've deleted the plugins manually and want to perform a reinstall, it is necessary to delete the DeskPack plugin receipts from the HD/Library/Receipts folder along with the DeskPack plugin Repository from HD/Library/Application Support/Esko-Graphics folder (new since 12.1.2!).
