Go to start of metadata

Summary

In WebCenter 14.0, there are some caching issues with Saved Searches. When executing a Saved Search, in some cases, the information is stored and these same results are displayed when you try to run another Saved Search.

This can occur in these situations:

  • Using custom Document Creation templates with Saved Searches.
  • Using Saved Searches from the menu.
  • Reusing links to Saved Searches on a customized static text HTML page.

Symptoms

Using custom "Document Creation" templates

In Document Creation templates, it is possible to define Saved Searches. When two Saved Searches are defined, something can go wrong. It does not matter whether or not they are in the same section. For example, one Saved Search can be for Bill of Materials only, while the other one is in the Documents section.

You get the following behavior:

  • Click the first Saved Search: You see the correct results.
  • Click the second Saved Search: You see the results of the first Saved Search.

Next time you open a page with the same links, it will still show the results from the first Saved Search.

Using Saved Searches from the menu

This only occurs when the call dosavedsearch.jsp is used in the menu.

When having two different Saved Searches in your menu, you get the following behavior:

  • Click the first Saved Search: You see the correct results.
  • Click the second Saved Search: You see the results of the first Saved Search.

Solution

The problem is solved in WebCenter 14.0.1, however, R&D have developed patch that requires to be installed on your WebServer.

Please contact your local support department to request this patch, with reference to this Knowledge Base article.

Workaround

A rather annoying workaround is to clear the cache either by:

  • Going to the search page and clicking Clear this form.
    Or
  • Logging off and on again.
