How can I replace part of a text string result from a SmartName with other text?
Text String Extract SmartNames may return results that must be reformatted for final use. One typical example is the full PANTONE Color Name that comes from a normalized PDFs XMP data. Instead of PANTONE 185 C, PMS 185 C may be the desired result.
With the introduction of the Formatting Options in SmartNames, a Custom Encoding option has become available. One use of this Custom Encoding is to substitute one string with another.
The following steps will create a Custom Encoding.
In the SmartName creating the result, click the Formatting Options... button at the bottom of the SmartName dialog.
Choose Custom Encoding in the Encoding drop-down menu.
The Edit button will get enabled. Click it.
Click the + (plus) button to add a substitution.
Enter the text you want to replace in the Find column of the text field and the new text to be entered in the Replace text field.
