Summary

After upgrading from Automation Engine 12.x, the following error appears when creating a Job folder:

"Unable to retrieve job parameter UseCase, reason: Could not instantiate bean".

Symptoms

Upgraded Automation Engine 10.x or 12.x to Automation Engine 14.x. When trying to create a new job folder, you get the following error:

  1. Login to the Server Admin via Pilot.
  2. Check the Diagnostics to see if all databases are running okay.
  3. You will most likely see that the Application Server is showing an error that the "fasttrack" database cannot be found.

Solution

The Application Server from the earlier Automation Engine needs to be removed.

To do this:

  1. Log on to the Automation Engine Server as an administrator.
  2. Go to Start > All Programs > Esko > Application Server 4.0 and select Remove Application Serer 4.0.
  3. When this is complete, run Activate Server. This should create the missing database and resolve the error message.
