When creating a combo layout, it may be beneficial to provide particular information about the individual items included in the layout on the report, e.g. one-up file names. The following procedure demonstrates how to call information from the embedded items. To get the desired results, we will be using the Print Item features in ArtiosCAD. However, no print items need to be created for the report to function. If print items are included in the layout, they will also be taken into account on the report.
Procedure
Step 1: Create or modify a report to contain the desired information.
Use calculated or prompted text for the layout and/or report information.
Add a manufacturing window to contain the layout.
Optional: Add a series of windows to contain the individual item one-ups. These will need to be Print Item windows in the File Window Properties.
You may also wish to add Annotation Text as labels, or a logo image to your report.
Step 2: Add the calculated text for the information you would like to pull from the embedded items. In this example we will use the File Name and Length x width x depth dimensions for each of the nine possible items included on our combo layout. Use the same calculated expressions for each of the nine items. You may wish to copy/paste these pieces of text.
Step 3: Change the properties of each File Name and Length x width x depth text to be consecutive Print Item numbers in the "Expression relates to:" field of the Properties dialog.
Double-click the first File_Name text.
Change Expression relates to: to the Print Item radio button and type 1 in the Print item number: text box.
Click OK.
Double-click the first LEN.000 x WID.000 x DEP.000 text.
Change Expression relates to: to the Print Item radio button and type 1 in the Print item number: text box.
Click OK.
Double-click the second File_Name text.
Change Expression relates to: to the Print Item radio button and type 2 in the Print item number: text box.
Click OK.
Double-click the second LEN.000 x WID.000 x DEP.000 text.
Change Expression relates to: to the Print Item radio button and type 2 in the Print item number: text box.
Click OK.
Continue until all the item specific pieces of text have the correct properties.
Step 4: Save the new report to the Serverlib and create the output in the Defaults similar to creating any other report.
When the report is run, the information will populate, and the file names and dimensions will pull from the individual items in the combo. If print items are used in one or more files and are assigned in the layout, they will occupy one of the print fields for each used print item. Remaining items will fill in the remainder of the Print Item windows. Unused windows will remain blank. If there are more items in the layout than windows available, remaining items will not appear. Order of the items as they populate the windows is based on the order in which designs were added to the layout.
