Symptoms

In the Color Engine Pilot, I want to apply device link refinement to a proof strategy. The strategy has a (multi-channel) equinox profile as source. When attempting to open any image in the Device Link Refinement tool, an error with the following message is shown: "The image <filename> doesn't have the right format to be used for device link refinement".

Solution

The number of input channels in the image needs to be the same as the number of inks in the strategy's source profile. If your strategy has a 7-channel source profile, you need to create a 7-channel image for device link refinement. This can be done using for example Adobe^® Photoshop^®.
