This KB describes how to import the HKS guide into Color Engine Pilot.

Requirements:

• Adobe^® Illustrator^®
• BabelColor PatchTool: Can be purchased here: http://www.babelcolor.com/products.htm

Procedure

1. Start the Adobe^® Illustrator^®.
2. Create a new document.
3. Open the Swatches window.
4. Click the list icon in the top right corner of the Swatches window and open a HKS Swatch Library:
   
5. Select all the HKS swatches, drag & drop them to the Swatches window.
6. Select all the HKS swatches and export them as a *.ase file.
   (Click the list icon again in the top right corner of the Swatches window and choose "Save Swatch Library as ASE...").
   
   
   
7. Open the PatchTool application.
8. Click File > Open ...
9. Browse to the *.ase file.
10. Disable the CMYK checkbox (Esko ink books use only Lab values).
    
11. Export the patches:
    
12. Use the following export settings:
    
13. Click the Do not change! button when seeing this window:
    
14. Start the Color Engine Pilot.
15. Select the Ink Books icon in the tool bar.
16. Click File > Import.
17. Select Files of type CxF and browse to the CxF file saved from inside the PatchTool.
18. Save the new Ink Book.
