Summary

The Automation Engine 12 Pilot shortcut cannot be created in some cases.

Symptoms

Launching the Automation Engine Pilot from the Automation Engine server client apps section on the webserver should automatically create a shortcut on the desktop or in a user defined location. In some cases this fails.

Solution

Install the shortcut from the Java cache by following the steps given below:

On Windows:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Java.
  2. Click the View... button in the General tab of the Java Control Panel.

  3. In the Java Cache Viewer window that appears, right click the Automation Engine 12.0 Pilot entry and click Install shortcut.

 

On MacOSX 10.6.x:

  1. Open the Java preferences in /Applications/Utilities.
  2. Click the View Cache Files... button in the Network tab of Java Preferences window.

  3. In the next window, right click the Automation Engine 12.0 Pilot entry and click Install shortcut.


On MacOSX 10.7.x and 10.8.x:

  1. Open the System Preferences and click Java in the Other section.

  2. Click the View... button in the General tab.
  3. In the next window, right click the Automation Engine 12.0 Pilot entry and click Install shortcut.
