Summary

ColorTone is an end-of-life product. You can find the last created build 70511 on the Suite 10 Assembly 2 DVD for Interactive Application.

  • ColorTone will crash if it is not properly installed.
  • The new fonts are not working with Suite 10 or Suite 12 or Suite 14.
  • Limited support for ColorTone on Windows 7.

Solution

Install ColorTone in Suite 10.1.1 Assembly 6

Software

You need ColorTone 7.0 kitnumber 70511. You can find this version on Suite 10 Assembly 1/ Assembly 2 of the Interactive Application DVD.

Installation

To install ColorTone in Suite 10.1.1 ass6, follow the steps given below:

  1. Install ColorTone 7.0 build 70511.
  2. Install HF 1 of Suite 10 assembly 6.
  3. Copy \Esko\bg_data_fonts_v040 folder to \Esko\colortonefonts (you have to create this folder manually if it does not yet exist).
  4. Edit the file on Drive:\Esko\bg_prog_colortone_v070\dat\environment_colortone.dat.
  5. Change the following code line to the folder where the fonts are installed:

    BG_DATA_FONTS = Drive:\Esko\colortonefonts\bg_data_fonts_v040

Install ColorTone in Suite 12.x or Suite 14.x

Software

You need ColorTone 7.0 kitnumber 70511. You can find this version on Suite 10 Assembly 1/ Assembly 2 of the Interactive Application DVD.

Installation

Perform the following procedure to solve this issue:

  1. Install ColorTone 7.0 build 70511.
  2. Install Hotfix 1 of Suite 10 Assembly 6.
  3. Download the colortonefonts.zip file to the computer where ColorTone is installed and unzip it.
  4. Copy this folder to Drive:\Esko\colortonefonts.
  5. Edit the file on Drive:\Esko\bg_prog_colortone_v070\dat\environment_colortone.dat.
  6. Change the following code line to the folder where the fonts are installed:

    BG_DATA_FONTS = Drive:\Esko\colortonefonts\bg_data_fonts_v040
  7. Save the file environment_colortone.dat.

Startup ColorTone.

Problems

ColorTone is crashing at startup withthe following error message:

"ColorTone has stopped working"

In Windows, when you go to Event Viewer > Application, you get the following message: 

Faulting application name: colortone.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a5d8569

Faulting module name: dtlshr.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a5ce6c0
Exception code: 0xc0000005

Solution

  1. Check if Hotfix 1 is installed, if not installed it.
  2. Check if the environment bg_data_fonts is defined to a dedicated fonts folders in the  Drive:\Esko\bg_prog_colortone_v070\dat\environment_colortone.dat, see above.
