Summary

When trying to add a container, certain shares are not available at container level.

Symptoms

Container is not accessible.

Solution

The user running the Automation Engine must have access to the share. This user must have Full Control to the share.

  1. Check as which user the Automation Engine is running.

You can use Server Admin or the Windows Task Manager (user of bgmd.exe) to check as which user Automation Engine is running.
By default, Automation Engine runs as the local BGSYSTEM user with the default BGSYSTEM password.

When Automation Engine is running as a local Windows user, proceed with step 2.

When Automation Engine is running as a Windows Domain user, proceed with step 3.

  2. Automation Engine is running as a local Windows user
    1. Make sure the same Windows user with the same password exists on the share computer. By default, this is the user BGSYSTEM with the default BGSYSTEM password. When this local user does not exist yet, create it with the same password as the user on the Automation Engine computer.
    2. Click the Sharing tab > Share... button and define the share properties.
    3. Add the local Windows user with Full Rights (Read/Write).
  3. Automation Engine is running as a Windows Domain user
    1. Click the Sharing tab > Share... button and define the share properties.
    2. Add the Domain Windows user with Full Rights (Read/Write)

In case the correct BGSystem user exists, but you still get the message "no available shares" when trying to mount the container, check if  the flag "User must change the password at next logon" is activated for the user BGSystem. This option should certainly be deactivated !

The two options that should be activated are "User cannot change password" and "Password never expires".
