KB78615015: ArtiosCAD - Cannot start program because LIBTIFF.DLL cannot be found

Summary

ArtiosCAD doesn't start up anymore and displays the following error: "Cannot start up program because LIBTIFF.dll cannot be found. Reinstalling the program should help.".

Symptoms

When trying to start up ArtiosCAD, the error "Cannot start up program because LIBTIFF.dll cannot be found. Reinstalling the program should help." pops up.

Solution

When Avast!^® antivirus is running on the machine, it will most probably be the cause. Avast!^® has changed its filters and has considered ArtiosCAD files as a threat. It has removed the LIBTIFF.dll file from the ArtiosCAD folders.

In order to solve the problem, follow these steps:

1. Exclude the Artios tree from the Avast!^® software: Open Avast > General exclusions > Archive paths tab > add <root>:\Esko\* to the list.
2. Backup ServerLib and ClientLib (<root>/Esko/Artios/ArtiosCAD x.xx/).
3. Run a Repair from your currently installed ArtiosCAD version.

ArtiosCAD should start up fine now.
