Summary

When using the iOS application for the first time, you need to provide the correct URL of your WebCenter instance. If this URL is not complete, error messages pop up and you cannot connect to WebCenter.

Symptoms

One of following error messages appears:

  • The application only supports WebCenter version 12 and up.

  • Could not verify WebCenter version. The application only supports WebCenter version 12 and up.

  • The URL http(s)://... is not a valid WebCenter Instance.

Solution

  1. Make sure you are connecting to a WebCenter version 12.0 or higher. 
  2. Validate the URL of WebCenter using your desktop or iPad/iPhone browser:
    1. Navigate to your WebCenter site using your browser.
    2. Copy the URL from the beginning through the last forward slash (for example, for http://webcenter.esko.com/WebCenter/login.jsp the correct URL is: http://webcenter.esko.com/WebCenter/)
    3. Paste the URL in the URL field in the WebCenter app.
  3. If you are trying to connect to WebCenter site, configured with a certificate, verify the validity of the certificate:
    1. Navigate to your WebCenter site using your browser
    2. Click the pad lock symbol, left of the web address
    3. Go to the Security information and view the certificate
    4. There is a chance that the certificate applied is blocked by Apple, because it does not comply with the security regulations. (eg. signed by an unknown authority)
      This will show the following error using Safari: Safari can't verify the identity of the website " ... " The certificate for this website is invalid.
  4. Fill in your credentials.
  5. Tap Log In.
