Question

Can WebCenter (client) be used on a Windows 10 system? Can I access WebCenter using the Microsoft Edge browser?

Answer

Windows 10 is officially supported as a WebCenter client, but there are some limitations if you are using the older Java based plugins. See the Windows 10 Test Matrix below.

The support also covers the later Windows 10 OS updates: Windows 10 Anniversary and Windows 10 Creator

Windows 10 includes Internet Explorer 11 as well as the new Edge browser. The Edge browser does not support plugins and therefore will not run Java. The Edge browser does allow you to open the same URL in Internet Explorer. Select the More Actions option located at the top of the Edge browser and click Open with Internet Explorer.

As newer browsers start to drop Java support, this may be the time to start using our HTML5 versions of the 2D and 3D Viewer. For future releases, replacing all Java applets in WebCenter is scheduled.
