Summary

The Create Paf task is failing.

Symptoms

The Log file shows the following message: "Error: No disk or file access".

The output folder has a temporary paf file written like filenamexxx_xxxx.pafsc

The Process Monitor shows the message "Name not Found" when the file should be renamed.

Solution

Problem is caused by OS system file caching settings not seeing that the file is created and as a consequence the next rename step fails!

To solve the problem follow the next steps:

  1. Logon to Automation Engine Server with administrative rights.
  2. Open Regedit.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters
  4. Add a new value FileInfoCacheLifetime as type REG_DWORD and data 0
  5. Add a new value FileNotFoundCache  as type REG_DWORD and data 0

Try again. It is not required to reboot.

More info of the caching parameters can be found here

Workaround

Reinstalling Automation Engine should also solve the problem because settings are checked or set at the installation time.
