The following are the minimum system requirements for Imaging Engine 18.0.1 Powered by Adobe®. Exceeding these requirements will in most cases lead to a performance increase. Running Imaging Engine Powered by Adobe® on a system that does not meet these requirements is not supported.
Information on additional Imaging Engine Tools
The following tools can also be installed on the same system:
- Curve Pilot and PressSync Pilot
- HDFlexo Screens
- Screen Manager
- Bitmap Viewer (32-bit or 64-bit)
- Print Control Wizard
You can also install these tools on a separate system, see here for the minimum system requirement for these tools.
Minimum requirements
Minimum System Requirements for Imaging Engine 18.0.1 Powered by Adobe® | |
---|---|
Processor type and speed | Only 64-bit compatible processor (Intel® or AMD®), minimal dual-core, recommended dual quad-core. |
RAM | 4GB RAM per worker. For more info about memory limitations in Windows operating systems, please consult this table. |
Hard disk |
|
Network | 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, TCP/IP v4 protocol, TCP/IP v6 protocol is not supported. |
Graphics and video | Minimum 1280 x 1024 screen resolution, true color depth. |
Virtualization |
Hardware connections, including dongles, proofers, spectrophotometers and others may work, but are not supported. Customers should verify hardware support through their virtualization support channels. |
File servers | All Esko applications running on Windows OS can use data that is available on network shares. These shares need to be on Windows file servers. We recommend to use Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016 as file server. As only Windows file servers are supported, Mac OS X or Unix/Linux (CIFS/SMB or NFS) data servers for instance are not supported (including many Network Attached Storage units). |
Setup Guideline in relation to Automation Engine and Proof Server
Imaging Engine and Automation Engine must run exactly the same version (e.g. 18.0.0).
Proof Server must run a similar version as Automation Engine (e.g. 18.0.*)
Number of workers for Imaging Engine is limited by both:
- Number of worker licenses.
- Number of available cores to Imaging Engine.
To guarantee minimal resources:
- Automation Engine (or Automation Engine assistant) requires at least one core.
- Proof Server requires at least two cores.
Therefore:
Number of available cores to Imaging Engine | When Automation Engine (or Automation Engine assistant) does not run on the machine | When Automation Engine (or Automation Engine assistant) runs on the machine |
---|---|---|
When Proof Server does not run on the machine | Number of available cores on the machine | Number of available cores on the machine - 1 |
When Proof Server runs on the machine | Number of available cores on the machine - 2 | Number of available cores on the machine - 3 |
Guidelines in relation to Performance
To improve performance, we recommend the following order of choice to install Imaging Engine on:
- A dedicated defragmented hard disk.
- A dedicated hard disk.
- A defragmented hard disk.
- A hard disk with an abundance of free space.
On top of this, we recommend a Solid-State drive (SSD) above a Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Imaging Engine can take up to 200GB or more temporary hard disk space during processing.
Supported Operating Systems
Recommended operating systems are highlighted in green in the tables below.
If an operating system is not listed in the tables below, it is not supported. Do not try to install Imaging Engine Powered by Adobe® on a computer running an unsupported operating system.
