KB322293082: Color Pilot - "One or more of the parameters is out of range" when measuring with an i1iO3 device

This KB describes one of the possible causes of the "One or more of the parameters is out of range" message when using the i1iO3.

Symptoms

Color Pilot fails to read overprint charts and errors out with the "One or more of the parameters is out of range" message.

Solution

In the i1iO3 box, you will find the glider rings which you need to mount in the cradle of the i1iO arm.
The box contains two glider rings in a plastic bag:

This photo shows glider rings for the PLUS model. When this glider ring is used in combination with a normal i13 model, it can result in the "One or more of the parameters is out of range" message or the measurement mode switches to Patch by Patch mode. So be sure to check if the correct glider rings are supplied / mounted!
