Context

Since the designer book is a default ink book that is required, you will not be allowed to overwrite the existing designer book files. You need to remove the designer files before restoring the designer.fp packed file.

The ink books can be exported within Color Engine Pilot using the File > Export menu. A file named <inkbookname>.fp will be generated. This file can be imported at another site or saved as backup to be imported if needed later.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

  1. First create a backup of the existing 'designer' ink book.
    1. In the Color Engine Pilot, click the Ink Books tool and open the 'designer' ink book.
    2. Go to the File menu and choose either Export or Save as.
    3. Type a new name for the ink book and click OK.
By default, the designer ink book files are located on the CMS shared folder in the Automation Engine PC.
  2. In the Automation Engine Server, go to C:\Esko\bg_data_cms_v010\w and open the idb file in a text editor.

  3. Remove the following files and save the file.

    cb_designer_pos.res
    idb_designer_col.res
    idb_designer_gen.res
    idb_designer_ksras.res
    idb_designer_mod.res
    idb_designer_org.res
    idb_designer_rec.res
    Remove subfolder named - designer_cdb
  4. Go to Color Engine Pilot and click the Ink Books tool.
  5. Go to File > Import.
  6. Browse to the location where the "designer.fp" file is located and click the Import button. This opens the designer ink book.
  7. Click File > Save.

The designer ink book name should always be in lower case.

Merging of books

Currently it is not possible to merge two books. The action described above is purely a replacement procedure. When you want to merge books, you need to work with a .fp file and name it say designer2. In this way you can open designer and designer2 simultaneously and manually drag inks from designer2 to designer.
